A DAY OF A MISSIONARY

I asked Daniel to tell me what a day is like in the mission field.  This is what he said!

Hey Mom! My past week has been great! So we get up at 6:30 work out for a half hour and then at 7:00 I wait for 20 minutes for my companion to get out of the shower and then we have personal study from 8 to 9 and then have companionship study from 9 to 11 and then we have lunch and then we bike on an average 10-15 miles everyday.  We go and do missionary work like finding or tracking or meet with less actives and then we go home and have dinner at 5. After that we keep on doing the same thing until about 8 to 8:30 we do Facebook or I just read my Scriptures. I'm In Alma now in my personal study! Then from 9 to 9:30 we plan for the next day. From 9:30 to 10:30 we just hang out and eat or whatever and we usually just go to bed as soon as we can. I Got My iPad! It's way awesome:)

TIDBITS FROM ELDER HURD

I don't really get a whole lot from Daniel in one email so here are a few different things he has said and some pictures he sent in the last few weeks.

His ward as Elder Wilde has said, "Is the best in the Jacksonville, Florida mission."  He has taught the Restoration probably 30 times already.  He is teaching the missionary lessons to a lady named Jackie and she is interested in getting baptized.  "Aw yeah it's so amazing here."  (speaking of the weather)  He has not seen a gator yet!  He has eaten at members homes and the food is really good.  He will be getting an Ipad on February 5th.  He has to shave everyday and he is going to grow a beard when he returns.  He has gained at least 10 pounds since he left and works out at his apartment complex.  He rode his bicycle 20 miles in one day.  He loves Florida and the Mission Field.

ELDER HURD'S FIRST WEEK IN FLORIDA

On my most recent email to Daniel, I thought I would get specific with what I wanted to know since I really wasn't getting much information in his previous emails!  So here are the answers to my questions!!

Florida is great! The first day I got here it was pretty cold but it's been really warm.  I live in Gainsville and I live in an apartment.  I love my bike and we don't bike too much.  The people live pretty close to us but the farthest away is probably 3 miles.  My new companion is pretty cool.  He knows the gospel very well and he has been a great help to me . My mission President is way cool and they are very loving people. We eat at home.  I've made spaghetti the past couple of days.  Monday is our P Day and the food is really good. Can I have the buttermilk recipe from Nicole please?  It's very awesome here and I love y'all and I hope you have a great day.

ELDER HURD MADE IT TO FLORIDA!!

Daniel arrived to his mission home in Jacksonville, Florida Tuesday afternoon.  He said the weather was 35 degrees but was expected to be 80 degrees by Saturday!  Later that evening we received this picture from his mission President.  President and Sister Craig.  I think he will be in good hands!!

UPDATE FROM THE MTC - JANUARY 3, 2014

Dan's emails are short but pretty positive.  Every email he says it is very hard but also great.  He is looking forward to serving the people in Florida.  His scripture study is going great.  He misses playing ping pong.  He says the sister missionaries are really pretty, nice and funny!!  Dan leaves for Florida early Tuesday morning, January 7th.

FIRST EMAIL FROM THE MTC - DECEMBER 20, 2013

Hey Mom! and everybody else! I love you all and the MTC is sooo great! It is very strict but I love it here! My Companion is Elder Jorgensen, he is sooo great! He has already been out to the mission field and he lived in San Diego California. He is 21 years old and he will be 22 this Sunday. He served in the California mission for 3 months and he has been a great help to me and the district. Me and Elder Jorgensen are Zone Leaders! I'm so blessed to have him as a companion. The food here is great and I have seen a couple people from Brigham City. There is a girl in my District and she was in Shannon's grade. Her name is Sister Garrett. Shes going to Australia in 2 weeks. We will be leaving the MTC here in about less than 3 weeks.

I love you all and I hope to hear from you soon! Also my P day in the MTC is on Friday! So hope to hear from you then!
